Handcrafted artistry Each piece is sculpted by hand, ensuring no two figures are identical. The Zulu warriors and Ndebele figures are represented with cultural authenticity, carrying the spirit of their traditions into the game. Hand-painted detailing Using acrylics for vibrant color and oils for depth, the artisans create a rich, layered finish. The glossy sheen adds a sense of timeless elegance, while the brushwork highlights traditional beadwork, shields, and geometric Ndebele patterns. Premium chessboard The board itself is crafted from koto and cherry wood - koto offering a light, fine grain, and cherry providing warmth and contrast. Together, they form a striking stage for the pieces. Resin and stone frame The frame is made from a polyester resin mixed with ground stone, giving it both durability and a tactile, earthy quality. It feels solid, almost like a carved relic, grounding the set in natural textures. Cultural symbolism Zulu figures often emphasize strength and warrior heritage, while Ndebele designs celebrate color, geometry, and identity. Playing on this board becomes a dialogue between two rich traditions. This isn't just a chess set - it's a collector's piece. The combination of wood, resin, stone, and layered paint techniques makes it both luxurious and deeply cultural. It bridges the gap between fine art and functional design, turning every match into a celebration of heritage. What's in the box 2 x Kings 2 x Queens 2 x Bishops 2 x Knights 2 x Castles 16 x Pawns
